Nowadays it’s very common to see a famous celebrity on the television or in the newspapers celebrating their marriages- usually to another famous celebrity- and all thanks to the attentions of the media. Many of these celebrities are in fact Jewish and yet you wouldn’t know it as you often only see the wedding photos rather than what went on in the ceremony. When a celeb gets married, the focus is often on the fashions worn at the event- who’s dress the bride wore, and if there were any famous friends in attendance and what designer clothes they were wearing. Here is a quick look at some famous Jewish celebrities who have celebrated their weddings with traditional Jewish style. The wonderful Barbra Streisand! Barbra Streisand is the top-selling female artist in American music recording history- and she is Jewish! She has been married twice and both times to other actors, first of which was Elliot Gould from 1963-1971, and then again to James Brolin in 1998-present.

The American actor Woody Allen has been married three times, and involved in several different relationships in between. His first marriage was between 1954-1959 to Harleen Rosen when he was only 19. Next was Louise Lasser from 1966-1969, and his third marriage to Soon-Yi Previn, adopted daughter of former girlfriend Mia Farrow from 1997-present. It is not known if he celebrated any of these marriages in Jewish tradition, but it is expected that he did as everyone knows of his religion which he still maintains.

American director and screen-writer Steven Spielberg, one of the most popular and influential film-maker of all time was born into a Jewish family. He has been married twice. Marriage to his first wife, Amy Irving, lasted only four years from 1985-1989, and their divorce was recorded as the third most costly divorce in American history. He married his second wife, actress Kate Capshaw, in 1991 and Kate converted to Judaism to truly celebrate the marriage as a Jewish couple.

Fashion designer Calvin Klein, born in 1942 and brought up in a Jewish community in the Bronx, has also been married twice. His first marriage was in 1964 to Jayne Centre, and lasted until 1974. His second marriage to Kelly Rector wasn’t until 1986, and they were divorced after 20 years of marriage. Both Calvin Klein’s weddings were celebrated in the Jewish way.

Albert Einstein, perhaps the most famous scientist of all time, was a very proud and devoted Jew who also married twice in his life. His first marriage was to Maleva Maric in 1903, and together they has two sons. They divorced in 1919 after living apart for five years. His second marriage to Elsa Lowenthal lasted from 1919 to 1936 when Elsa died. Albert never remarried and dedicated himself to his work.

The Jewish law does allow divorce and doesn’t frown upon it like some religions do, and can be initiated by either the husband or wife. They do have to follow proper Jewish proceedings, and so all these famous Jews have been allowed to remarry again. Other famous Jewish people include the late Elizabeth Taylor, Gwyneth Paltrow, Harrison Ford, and Ralph Lauren, each of which has celebrated a famous Jewish wedding.
